Hey its Jenica. I found a scholarly article about successful parenting of children with disabilities that I think will work, but I'm not sure if it is peer reviewed. I put it under the parent resource tab for now if someone wants to take a look at it.
Hi!
we still need to come up with a title for our wiki, professor okolo just reminded us! any ideas?
Hey, this is Meg. I haven't come up with any ideas yet, but something along the lines of Resources for Parents of Students with Disabilities?
Also, we will want to add stuff about text-to-voice, CAST, and Read/Write/Think, as well as provide information about Speech Recognition and other tools. We may also want to provide websites about various software that may be beneficial for the students (such as iClicker5 and whatever else we are learning right now in class)
I thought of an idea to include a page about the education stakeholders-SLP, OT, PT etc although I included some of this in the definitions so idk but they need to know who these ppl are. and maybe we should have something about what to expect with an IEP and special education. I had a parent who told me that she went to a meeting and didn't realize that so many ppl were going to be there. She didn't know who all the ppl were and did not feel comfortable talking about her private issues because of all of those people there. maybe is she knew what to expect/was prepared maybe she would not have felt so intimidated. just my ideas/thoughts, what do you think?
I thought this was a great idea Clarissa! =) I'll brainstorm and add!
